Not to mention, an abrupt (even if temporary) cessation of breastfeeding is
likely to be very stressful for a mother and child both already under
stress from the experience of surgery. The short- and possibly long-term
negative consequences from an abrupt cessation (even if temporary) of
breastfeeding are well worth avoiding unless there is an extremely good
reason to endure them.
