When my then-9-month-old had an anaphylactic reaction to nuts
(pecans) via my breastmilk, the ER doctor told me to wait 36 hours
before resuming breastfeeding.

I grew weary of trying to mother my baby *without* breastfeeding (he
had never had a bottle, and was eating very little solid food) and
nursed him briefly at 24 hours out. He quickly began developing
hives again. A dose of benadryl took care of him then, but I didn't
dare try nursing again until the whole 36 hours had elapsed. He
gladly went back to the breast when the time was up and we continued
our nursing relationship with no further problems and no apparent
fallout from our 36-hour hiatus.
