As Kathy has said, our rule of not passing on notes without permission is a
netiquette thing. Purely born from our desire to have people's comment be
clear, and not sent out of context etc. What Barb says is quite try, and I
appreciate her comments.

Perhaps we are in the dark, or out of date, but there have been many
times, (not just one) where comments were forwarded and this action caused
the original poster grief and hardship. I won't go into details here, but
let's just say that not everyone who forwards notes has good intent.

I don't have it in me to get into a big debate on this subject at the
moment, but I do really appreciate all the comments and the time it took to
write in about it.

It is all about free speech, in a way, but that is not always something
that is easy to protect. I can't share details, but there are ways of
making others very uncomfortable that have been used on some of our
subscribers. We are committed to the right of free speech on Lactnet, and
also to the right of each poster to take responsibility for their posts,
and to be able to clarify and contribute to the list with ongoing
discussion. Passing notes on without permission is out of context, often,
and does not contribute to the ongoing "life" of Lactnet.

Just asking for some netiquette here, and trying to keep this list
professional and safe.

Thank you. Kathleen
