I remember your original post well, Natalie. You raise many good points.
One-size-fits-all mental health care does people as much good as
one-size-fits-all lactation consulting, which is, of course, not much.
Sometimes difficult situations take very little to get moving in the right
direction. Sometimes they take a lot of time, energy, and assistance.
Short-term therapy in-and-of-itself is not harmful. But when it is all that
insurance companies will cover, it is often all that a person might be able
to afford to obtain. And, yes, psychology is inextricably linked to
culture. Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts again.
