Winnie, if you can get that statement ('We are not baby friendly nor will we
ever be') in writing, you could be sitting on a gold mine. Take it to the
Ethics Officer. Or maybe the OBs think it would sound great as an ad
slogan: The baby-unfriendly hospital - we **dare** to call a spade a spade!

Sometimes merely standing upright means de facto going over other peoples'
heads, at least if they have them securely stuffed at a lower level on their
own anatomy. I can't tell whether that might be the case here.

If you have any friends in the media - think of mothers you have helped,
friends outside of work, someone your kids or spouse knows - consider using
them to get publicity, if the occupational safety and health department at
your institution doesn't consider this a case to act on. 'Whistle-blower
harassed for pointing out conflict of interest' or something to that effect.
This story is grotesque. Are there provisions in the personnel handbook
regarding hazards to your mental health in the workplace? Seriously. We
have them here, and they are a godsend. The psychosocial work environment
causes more morbidity than toxins or hazardous machinery, at least in
hospitals.

Good luck and be sure to keep us posted.
