I have had an unusual number of mom's as outpatients recently with low
supply. Each has resulted in a baby initially being seen due to poor
weight gain. Three of these mom's all had prior histories of low supply
with first child. Two primips are struggling as well. All these babies
have sloppy latch and suckle and require stimulation to keep active with
feedings. Reglan worked for one, switch nursing improved a few, pumping
was so-so, diets were improved, reflux is being investigated with one,
early introduction of a bottle may been an issue with a couple.I am
flabbergasted! Could we begin a discussion on improving poor suck and
addressing milk supply issues.?
