The "back to sleep" information at the AAP website lists these ways to
help reduce the risk of SIDS:
Bedding: use a firm mattress, don't use fluffy blankets or comforters,
don't have baby sleep on a waterbed or sheepskin, don't have stuffed
toys in the baby's bed.
Temperature: Keep the baby warm, but not too warm. (Presumably these
first two areas are where the wrapping part comes in. A bundled baby
might get overheated or re-breathe CO2 if the face is covered).
Smoke-free environment.
Doctor/clinic visits.
Prenatal care.
Breastfeeding.
