I was working with a mom who started to notice that blood was coming out of
her right nipple. She had only pumped one half ounce, but saw the color,
panicked, and proceeded to dump it. Later, she called me. I know that there
are milk samples that are the color of rust that are still acceptable for
consumption, but I am still very much concerned about the "mystery" cause.
There appears to be no particular reason for this to be occuring. Mom
reports no pain, sore nipples, plugged ducts, etc. Mom claims that both
nipples are quite healthy looking. I have been wanting to try and see her,
and recommended a doctor's visit as well, but this mom just got back to work,
and has no additional sick days to play with. Does anyone have a thought
about this one?
