Ann, I am in the almost exact situation right now with a twin mom. Non-supportive father, and unrealistic mother are making it hard for me no to just advise her to give up and bottle feed.  She does not want to pump more than 2x per day despite the barrage of information I have given her both written and verbal. The twins won't latch and have developed a nipple preference for the bottle. 
I continue to answer her calls, see her, give her the same info over and over and also tell her that she needs to re-evaluate her goals and do what will work best for her family. 
She says her OB told her dark beer will fix the whole problem, so she is drinking beer hoping it will bring in such an overwhelming supply that the babies will just magically latch on and nurse and all will be well until she returns to work in 6 weeks.
Frustrating to say the least, as well as heartbreaking because this was not this mother's original plan. I worked with her prenatally to prepare, but when you have twins at 35 weeks, I think it can all go to pot quickly with no support from family.
