In addition the the possibility that her nerves were cut, there is also the
possibility of serious blood loss during the surgery and it's ensuing
damage to the pititary gland. This damage can effect the hormones that the
pit gland produces and thus effect milk production. We have seen this
phenomenon is post partum hemorrage, but I don't know if serious blood loss
in a childhood surgery would have the same effect. (I wish I could find the
citation for this phenomenon.)

Some heart surgeries have a large quantity of blood loss, possible damage
having been done to this woman's pititary is worth considering.
