Dear Lacnet Readers: Does anyone have experience
using algorithms regarding breastfeeding in a hospital
setting, especially on a Mother/Baby Unit? I have
been approached by management to consider developing
algorithms for the management of breastfeeding on our
Mother/Baby Unit. Marie Bright Cobb, MSN, IBCLC,
recently published her hospital's algorithm in the
AWHONN Lifelines October/November 2002 Volum 6, Issue
5. Jack Newman's Decision Tree is also an algorithm
specific to dehydration. Any thoughts? Anyone
currently using/developing this type of tool?
Yours in lactation,
Debbie Colbert, RNC., IBCLC
Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan where there is frost on the
pumpkin this morning
