We use 1/2% Gentian Violet, made at a compounding pharmacy. I would NOT use
any Gentian Violet solution in a baby's mouth TID, nor for 5 days in a row.
We have found that the risk of baby getting blisters in the mouth seems to
increase greatly when you get past 4 days, so for a mild case (like this one
sounds), I would start with once a day for 3 days, and re-evaluate when the
purple wears off. You can do another 2 or 3 days if there is thrush
remaining.
Interesting idea to wet the Q-tip with water...hadn't thought of that.
