The German TV journalist from a program called Tass, on the network 'TV
Prosieben' (hope the spelling is correct!) who filmed the mother of the 7 year
old child who still occasionally breastfeeds and then supplied the footage to
Good Morning America, has contacted several LLL leaders in the US. The way he
has approached them has made them decide not to offer him interviews.
As a general rule, before voluntarily agreeing to be filmed in *any* capacity
it is prudent to negotiate, and get in writing, the conditions for handling
the recording AND the finished product. Things you might want to have a word
about are: the purpose of the film, the context in which the film is to be
used, the content of the final version, and who will have access to it (who it
can be sold to).
The listmothers have been alerted to this particular case by members of LLL,
and we are not interested in more discussion about this journalist here on
Lactnet, but decided that this information should be passed on to you, the
subscribers.
for the listmothers,
Rachel Myr
PS In Norway and Sweden, at least, we are doing Breastfeeding Week now, and
here in Gothenburg there will be a fun seminar at one large local maternity
ward where among other things Reverse Pressure Softening, Jean Cotterman's
well-described and miraculously helpful technique, will be demonstrated for
the staff. And I will be in lectures here at school the whole time and can't
even GO.
