I am trying to find a document from the Centers for Disease Control (or
another authoritative document) that clarifies that breast milk is not a
biohazard to patrons at a public swimming pool. A public pool in my county
does not permit breastfeeding at the pool side (even with a fully clothed
mother) because the management considers breast milk a biohazard. The
manager told a mother who was asked to stop breastfeeding that if any breast
milk somehow got into the pool, they would have to evacuate.
Can anyone help with this? I am assisting the mother in putting together
information for a letter to the manager.
