When I heard Udo Erasmus ("Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill") speak, he said that w/ each subsequent pregnancy a mother's EFA supplies are further diminished, making supplementation essential if she cannot replace them through food sources (most people cannot consume adequate amounts of foods--flax seed or oily fish). He book is well-researched, so I would be surprised if he just made this up.
