Hi All,

Actually, the letter from the AAP states:

Breastfeeding to use in place of a breastfeeding booklet
> they had previously developed and distributed.

So my question was is the booklet that ROSS "developed" actually the Huggins
booklet (canibilized and tainted with an ABM makers logo) - if so - then
Ross didn't develop it...

To the rest of the world - I wonder if it is simply that we are so open-eyed
and aware of the realities of how ABM marketing affects BF
rates/duration/health of babies that we can truly SEE what is going on here?
We deal with these injustices and ethical dilemas every day and see the
direct health effects on moms and babies. We are constant in our support of
breastfeeding - we don't o off and work on other non-BF related projects for
a year then come back to BF for a month or two - this is our LIFE WORK.

The AAP certainly does support and promote BF, but are they truly aware of
the what is going on around the world where ABM companies are concerned to
the point of being as appalled as we are? WE would never align ourselves
with an ABM comapny - it goes against our ethics. WE understand the
conflict of interest. The AAP Obviously does not. This may, sadly, be
another one of those situations where they simply have too many other things
going on to really be 100% aware of the damage they are now condoning by
allowing Ross to purchase, label and distribute this book. Their feeling
may actually be (albeit naively) that it doesn't truly matter WHO sends out
the books - if this awesome informational text gets out into the hands of
everyone possible (especially for free!) who cares who does it? Of course,
I believe that Ross is trying to make itself look good - and in the process
find another way to encourage moms and Drs to promote the use of ABM (even
when NOT neccessary).

Sad, sad, sad...

Jaye
