p.s. I went on, 5 yrs later, to bf exclusively, w/o ever using formula and
my dtr weaned around age 5 or 6, it's a blur. Ah Redemption! Yet still I
mourn the loss of the full nursing relationship w/ my son.

I pretty much had the same experience, Laurie. My son weaned around 10.5
months due to favoring the bottle while I was at work. Since I wasn't
pumping a whole lot at work, I nursed when home but offered other fluids,
thinking I didn't have enough milk, then stopped pumping altogether at work,
which totally doomed the breastfeeding relationship.
Smarter the second time around, my daughter nursed until she was 5.8 years.
So we have similar stories
