I'm not referring to any research, just my experience. I had two of my
babies while living in the tropics. On those really hot, humid days I
would find that my babies would have quick snacks, thirst quenchers, during
the day and not as often as I would have thought they would either, then
when it cooled down somewhat in the evenings they'd settle in for a
marathon feeding session.
Our nursing mothers meetings often had the topic of 'how to keep cool' and
lots of ingenious suggestions were made. Feeding in a cool bath, or the
toddler wading pool (at home), wetting a sheet and having a fan blowing
onto it, using a cotton cloth over the arm that goes around the baby so the
two skin surfaces aren't sweating together, and the list goes on and on.
likewise as an adult in hot weather I didn't feel much like eating during
the day either - cool drinks and cool snacks.

Now thinking about the research ... does frequency of suck really make that
much difference anyway? The majority of the milk is removed during the
milk ejection when infants suck is at the slower rate. Maybe in hot
weather the slower initial suck is just because they are too lethargic to
enthusiastically stimulate that milk ejection - just waiting for mother to
do it herself. I don't know - just guessing.
