I just wanted to reply to this thread before I go nomail. I have an
Olympus Camedia C-4040Zoom. It has a pretty good optical zoom, a macro
closeup mode with optional spot metering, is pretty easy to use, and
shows you the photo right after it's taken on the little LCD so you can
see if it came out well and reshoot if it didn't. It comes with a usb
cable and the little smartmedia card that hold the photos can also be
put into a pc card adapter for notebook computers. This little adapter
looks just like another hard drive to the computer, so you can transfer
the photos from the smartmedia, and then erase it to use again.
I like the resolution of this camera, it has 4.1 megapixel CCD (the
light sensitive area). I usually use it on the third best setting, and
the photos are about 2MB in size and look good in my powerpoint
presentations. I use macro mode a lot. What I don't like about the
camera is that it takes awhile to focus and shoot, and I often miss what
I was aiming for. I still use my old Canon Eos A2E with a macro lens
for "oral anatomy" shots, the Olympus digital is too slow to get good
shots inside the baby's mouth unless you prefocus on just the right spot
in advance. Overall, I'm very happy with it. It had a list price of
$899 US, but one can get substantial discounts. I paid $599 from a
reputable local dealer.
Back next week, thanks for all the good wishes.
