yeah, my definition of 'breastfeeding friendly' ped is very loose. I
call my ped bf friendly b/c formula isn't his first line of defense if a
baby isn't gaining well. He's pretty good, but he's no Jack Newman or
Jay Gordon:)
Our former ped, the one who is generally considered b/f friendly around
here (hear him mentioned in LLL and homebirth circles) told me that I
shouldn't nurse so frequently b/c the baby "won't ever get the high fat
hind milk" - LOL. After doing some gentle education and sending some
info via mail and fax, we found a new doc. I firmly steer ppl toward
other pediatricians....
He was on his way to earning becoming the doc we all hoped he would be,
then they adopted a baby, decided to bottle feed formula, decided a crib
in another room worked better for them, then several babies later, his
office was *full* and I mean *full* of prominently displayed formula
freebies and well, you all know the drill.
