I get a lot of questions like this regarding our large family size and I
have a couple of stock mild answers.
For the sweet, the curious, and the harmless, but annoying: "Thank you, I'll
consider that." And immediately change the subject. This is especially
effective if repeated several times, as only a really pushy sort won't get
the message.
For the really pushy, rude, or those who cross the lines of decency and
respect, said with a very puzzled expression, "Why would you be interested?"
implying that their interest is improper. A raised eyebrow and slightly
disturbed look helps :-)
For the genuinely interested, I'll say something really positive about the
situation ( It's such a blessing!") and explain more as the conversation
develops. Honestly, I use this one more than any other, as many, many folks
become open when they realize you are sure and happy about your decisions.
For the incredibly rude, I have some real doozies, but that isn't what your
moms are looking for <LOL>
