Dear Joylyn, I didn't mean to minimize the pain. But many people have UTIs
and have never been offered this med.  It isn't used routinely anymore.  And
it is usually only Rxed for 2 days.  All that said, my edition 2000 of Hale
says "This product, due to limited efficacy, should probably not be used in
lactating women although it is doubtful that it would be harmful to an
infant."  The clue is found in the "limited" efficacy"  Hale says it is only
moderately effective in reducing pain, I would imagine regular dosing (every
4 or 6 hours) of either tylenol or ibuprophen and the warm water trick I
mentioned would have the same amountof pain relief.  Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
