Of course this is great that they've shown that co-sleeping won't cause any of
these bad things, but of
course I'm a little disappointed that they didn't find that there were less bad
habits, less
psychological problems, etc amongst the co-sleepers. After all, isn't that
partly why we are doing
this, in the hopes of raising stronger, more stable people that will have *less*
of these problems???

We co-sleep as part of an overall AP style parenting package and *that* is what
we hope will produce more stable people with fewer problems in the long run.

I was glad of the article because we have had so many negative comments that we
are harming our children (and ruining our sex lives, wouldn't be 6 weeks away
from number 5 if that were true!!) by co-sleeping.

I have a friend who is a staunch breastfeeder, (and she is totally blind to
boot!) but she seems to think that everything will be all right with her
children because they were breastfed for 3 years each. She then doesn't allow
her children to paint or draw or use playdough or play outside or even play in
any other room of the house other than their bedrooms, they can't have books for
fear they may damage them, and places so many restrictions on them it is no
wonder they now exhibit serious behaviour problems. Being in her home watching
the interactions between her and her chidlren is painful for me :( IMO
breastfeeding is great but it is only one part of the whole parenting job, just
like co-sleeping. Both make parenting easier but they don't create caring,
stable human beings by themselves. If co-sleeping is the only time parents
have with their children then they don't really have a lot of time to really
'parent' those co-sleeping children.
