I saw one baby who, over time, became a more and more reluctant feeder,
though he generally fed well at my house. He also seemed to be making less
and less eye contact with mom. It was winter, and each time they came, he
was in a winter coat and mittens, which I had mom remove.

She finally asked for a home visit. When I got there, baby (now several
months old) was in mitts, which it turns out he wore all the time. It's a
sample of one, but I'm pretty sure his withdrawal from food and mother was
linked to his sensory deprivation. There were some other issues too, but
getting rid of the mittens made a difference.
