Actually, Helen, my comments are based on evidence from an Alaskan study, by Gessner and colleagues. I was too lazy to look for the reference when I wrote my earlier post. The article is worth reading, as the authors found it rare in their population for infants sleeping with sober, undrugged parents in a proper bed to be SIDS victims. The reference is below.
