I had an awful problem with yeast when BF my two. I was never told to
discard it and everytime I would use milk it would recurr. I agree that
when immune system is stronger it may be ok to use it, however if mom or
baby is immune compromized (diabetic, lupus, arthritis, ............) that
it is more important to discard this milk.
I now encorage all of my moms to discard stored milk if they are storing it
up for later use and not using it daily. I do encourage them to use it if
it would mean using formula otherwise. Yeast is an inconvenience, but does
not carry the same risk as artificial milk.
