I did this protocol with great success and had a full milk supply for my
little Adam.
I believe that in situations where there is a timeline to work with, it is a
wonderful idea. But for up-in-the-air adoptions, which most can be, it can
be difficult to time correctly. I don't really agree with using it to
relactate, as the estrogen suppresses milk-making when the baby is younger
and would derive the most benefits of more milk. However, at this point, it
is the surest and quickest way to make the most milk for most women.
Using a Lact-Aid and domperidone and pumping does work well, but takes longer
and some women aren't motivated enough. I went that route with my first son,
and produced about half of his intake, although he wasn't a really snuggly or
nursie baby so I don't know how it would have worked with Adam, who was/is
the ultimate boobybaby. I think I would have made much more. Cole wasn't
eager to nurse, and Adam was.
