Hi All,
Have a question or two regarding the SNS and babies.
I have a mom using the SNS with a 2 mo old baby - mom has lack of glandular
tissue but is producing about 40-50% of baby's needs. She called asking
what to do about keeping the baby from playing with the tubing on the
breast. :) Baby is now reaching and playing...I gave her some suggestions,
but since I have practically no experience with teh SNS or the long term
challeneges with it I thought I'd ask y'all out there for some helpful
hints. Also, mom wants to know if there is any way to keep baby feeding
more efficiently on a regular basis. Sometimes she takes her feeding
(everything in the SNS) in about 20 minutes - other times it can take up to
an hour. She did note that when feeds took longer baby seemed to be
'hanging out' rather than like at 20 min feeds where she got down to
business. I suggested to her that it was probably a similar situation as
with babies not on an SNS - sometimes they hang out - sometimes they don't.
But again, I figured I'd ask since I am somewhat out of my element with the
SNS. Believe me, I am learning a lot from this mom! ;)
TIA!
Warmly,
Jaye
