This is absolutely not the case in my small midwestern town.  Full names
and city and  workplace of parents are printed, along with full names
and cities of grandparents, plus names and ages of any siblings.

When I pre-registered for my son's birth, I was never told I could opt
out of this.  He was born at home, so it didn't matter anyway.
