Again, I think, the people running the study have a game plan and don't
wish the truth----just some stats to prove a point.
Do we know how many women in the study have allergies in their or their
husband's families? These women probably have been told, for years,
that breastfeeding long term helps prevent allergies. So they are going
to breastfeed long term. They may not have been told to avoid high
allergen foods. They may not have been told about the 6 month gut
closure. So they expect something magical from breastmilk. (as though it
can undo family genetics and other risk factors).
What do we really know?
I know that I was a third generation formula fed baby, from a family
with mild allergies, and I had such severe allergies I was hospitalized
several times. I know that of my 4 breastfed children, 2 have allergies
(one who was supplemented in the hospital regularly and my son who had
formula x1 in the hospital for low blood sugars).
I hope that perhaps with 3 generations of breastfeeders under our belt
we will go back to a family of nonallergies. What do you guys think?

Subject: Re: Asthma & Bfing
OK. I am going to call my local TV station shortly! I am going to ask
who
funded the study and how many of the 1000 subjects were given formula in
hospital. I am going to make the comment that many more studies show
that bfing prevents allergies and asthma. I am also going to ask how
many of the ABM babies had asthma. Also going to comment about the
formula fed being at a greater risk for obesity, diabetes and ulcerative
colitis/Crohn's. I think the TV station should be responsible for what
they put on the air.
