There is no need for any washout period because, UNLESS the infant has a
G-6PD deficiency and is less than one month old, the baby should not have
been temporaily weaned in the first place.
Only small amounts of nitrofurantoin enter the milk, and the AAP considers
nitrofurantoin to be compatible with breastfeeding.
