I am only on my first ;-) but I have avoided pretty much all jarred baby
food. I did buy one jar once, of organically grown mixed fruit, when my
daughter was about a year and a half. This is because I actually like
these myself (they taste like fruity applesauce!). I never did baby
cereal, and never did other jars than that one (which, ironically, she
didn't really like...I ate most of it).

My daughter gagged on everything...solid or mushed...until she was 8.5
mos old and had just gotten her first tooth. Then things started going
down, though she did it very gradually over several months. By the time
she was about 15 mos she was eating maybe about 2 tbsp. per meal, of food.

She hasn't shown to have any food allergies so far (touch wood), and she
eats just about everything. Sometimes we wonder where she puts it
all...today she had 2 large bowls of dry cereal, 2 hard boiled eggs, 2
bowls of soup (chicken noodle), and 2 bowls of blueberries and grapes.
I would feel full myself after all that in the space of a couple of hours!.
