La Leche League carries a product in their catalogue called the "Evert-It."
It is similar to a turned around syringe but made specifically for inverted
nipple treatment. It has a silicone tip with two sizes of openings.
You could contact a local leader for a catalogue, go to the website at
www.laleacheleague.org or call International at 847 519-7730 and have your
hospital order some.(product number 441-21) They are quite effective
although I have always found a turned around and snipped syringe to be
sufficient. It is a shame that your hospital is putting arbitrary protocals
in the way of good, inexpensive treatments. The "Evert-It" is a lot more
expensive than an empty syringe,(22.95 per unit, plus tax) BUT it is
labeled specifically for inverted nipple treatment.
