We are scheduled and work on alternate days-I work 3 ten hour days and the
other LC works 3 seven hr days. Then we have 3 supplemental staff RN/IBCLCs
who work evenings about 10 times a month. We also have 3 casual pool LC's who
work about 3 four-six hr shifts each week. So the way we alternate our days
if I give a shield on Mon, I will be working on Wed and Fri so I will make
the appointment on one of those days.
This policy is still a work in progress so I expect some adjustments, but it
is better then discharging the mom and waiting for her to call back if she
needs us ( which is what was happening and usually what happened was we never
heard from her).
