In several clients I have succesfully used sage to lower or diminish
milksupply. For lowering a supply that seems to be double or more what baby
needs (today just had a mom that only feeds on 1 breast because of non
production in the other<!> with a nippleshield and a fussy 300gr per week
gaining baby) I advise mom to start with tea made of 250ml of boiling water
over 1 not too big tablespoon of dries sage leaves, seaped for a minute of 5.
Drik it in 2 or 3 portions throughout the day. As soon as a starting decrease
is noticed (which may be within 24 hours) decrease sagetea intake with one
half and stop use right away when milk seems to becomne OK or less. For
taste-sake a bit of the sage can be exchanged by peppermint.
To diminish milksupply abruptly I advise 2-3 cups (as in drinking cup,
teacup) untill supply is gone.
Warmly greeting,
Gonneke
