This item is used commonly at our small community hospital for those mothers
choosing to formula feed.  Actually it is just an abdominal binder,
generally the 9" ones.  The theory is that as the milk ducts are compressed
completely, milk is unable to let down.  This triggers the body to suppress
milk production, thinking that the ducts are too full to let down.  I've
never seen data to support this theory, but many of our formula feeding
mothers request one after the next delivery.
