Jean in my attempt to find the article you are referring to online I did an
MDConsult search - the full text wasn't there but it did have a review of
it published in Year Book of Pediatrics 1997.  The following is the closing
quote by the author:

If you still aren't satisfied that everything is known about the best ways
to breast feed, i.e., single vs. both breasts, you're probably in good
company, despite the quality of this first-class report. When it comes to
topics such as this, common sense and personal experience really aren't all
that bad, are they?

We are gaining such wonderful scientific knowledge from many fields, but it
