Hello from San Francisco. I work as an IBCLC at a large hospital here and
have a question for you all. I searched the archives but did not find an
answer to this issue. I am working with a mom (persmission to post
received) who has pierced nipples, no longer wearing any jewlery in them
and is breastfeeding her daughter, now 2 weeks old. While breastfeeding on
the left she leaks from the right like a small fountain or hose, from one
side of her nipple. She can soak a whole diaper while feeding on the other
side! As of today, she does not leak "all the time" only when the baby
feeds on the Left. She has been managing the leaking by using a diaper or
kotex to catch the milk, but what I am wondering is, has any one else seen
this and can she expect it to get better? Will she ever be able to
breastfeed in public??
Thanks in advance for your help!
