I had an experience that I have wondered about. A mother who had fed 4
other children adopted a 5 month old infant. He had been in many different
homes and had been fed with many different types of teats. She did have
milk by the time that he came. He opened his mouth and latched like a pro.
Mom thought that it was because of his varied experience with feeding
equipment.
I am wondering if giving a baby who is drinking from bottles several
differently shaped teats would help him see that many textures and shapes
can give provide his meal and the human nipple is just another one, hence
hastening his breastfeeding.
I have thought of trying it. Have any of you considered such a plan?
