Dear Marsha,
At the sake of not taking up too much space, I left out what now seems to be
important details. I was WITH the mom the whole time, except for the 3
minutes where I walked a few yards away. This was her 3rd baby, she has lots
of confidence and was happy to have somone hold the baby while she ate her
dinner and played a bit with her 2 other kids. I am all for empowering moms,
I have spent the last 25 years doing just that. I am an assistant/teacher,
not a replacement mom. I truly believe no one in this group felt separation
anxiety at any time. I was trying to share a story of how Karp's techniques
work. I think we must be careful not to push our own agenda onto other
people or read too much into it. I am very good at what I do, I love my job,
worked hard for my IBCLC and care about the family unit. All I did was offer
a helping hand, not commit a crime. I was truly offended by your response.
