Hello everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I asked for information on which hospitals
hired non-RN IBCLC/CLC. Thanks to all who responded. Our Lactation
Department met with the heads of the hospital department and things seem to
be calming down. Several of you asked that I report back to you what I found
out, so here are the results:
23 Hospitals responded
62 Lactation Staff
42 IBCLC/CLC non-RN staff (IBCLC/CLC was now always clarified)
20 RN IBCLC/CLC staff
16 require the lead person to be IBCLC (no other credentials required)
3 required RN/IBCLC to be lead Lactation staff
4 did not state requirements for head of Lactation department.
Hospitals responding were in Arizona, New York, North Carolina, California,
Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
Your warm responses and reminders that many of you have been down this road
before me was encouraging and very helpful! Thanks! Judith Markham IBCLC
