I have worked with one mom whose baby had this, went through multiple
surgeries and mom pumped for almost a year with one of our "loaner" pumps
paid for by Grant funds. Baby never got formula.
She still sends me cards and pictures of the baby. One of the things we
did for her baby is "Lactoengineering" to increase the fat content of the
milk. (skimmng off the foremilk) to help baby gain weight. Baby gained well
but didn't go to breast until almost a year old, after her last surgery.
There are some good pictures of this syndrome in many maternal child nursing
textbooks. It's worth a minute to look at the different tracheal and
esophogeal variations.
