Not even a dropperful as part of a routine security procedure? I'm always
amazed that people will let their babies swig down gallons of a fluid they
themselves find so distasteful and embarrassing. And I'm further amazed at
the numbers of mothers and partners to whom it has never *occurred* to taste
it.
My routine healthy-term-baby advice when asked about the safety of
refrigerated or frozen milk: "Because your baby is breastfed (sorry,
"because you're feeding your baby" :-) ), essentially he shares your immune
system. Have you ever thrown out freezer food because it had spoiled? You
might throw it out because of freezer burn, but spoilage?
"But if ever you're unsure, just taste it, same as you would a carton of cow
milk. If it tastes fine, it is fine." (We may talk about soapy taste
then.) Any theoretical problems with my reasoning?
