>Volunteer organisations have codes of conduct which oblige their
workers to follow the WHO code and other ethical behaviours. We are
not permitted to take anything from a formula company. I am surprised
this does not apply to lactation professionals, as well.<

Ummm, but voluntary organisations in the UK (cannot speak for elsewhere)
have been known to take money from companies who have an interest in infant
feeding -- lunches at study events from pump companies, stalls from nipple
ointment mfgrs, leaflets from supermarkets who are manufacturers and/or
distributors under the terms of the WHO Code, prize vouchers from Chemists
who sell replacement feeding products, bottles and teats, as well as other
products which make money out of women's infant feeding choices.........

The Code does not just cover formula companies; and the Resolutions -- which
have the same status as the Code, update it and cover new violations -- are
often ignored by voluntary organisations, as well as professionals.
Sometimes it happens that organisations can be seen scurrying around to get
the exact letter of the Code, so that they can justify what they are doing,
whereas we should really *want* to adhere to the letter and the SPIRIT of
the Code and Resolutions.

Shouldn't we?

Shall we all agree that its a case of pots and kettles and wait to cast the
first stone?

over their policies which broke provisions of the WHO Code.
