If memory serves, isn't there something occurring naturally in cow's milk,
turkey, etc (tryptophan?) that induces relaxation &/or sleep? It's why so
many people 'veg out' after Thanksgiving dinner in the US. Turkey is
usually the meat of choice. Dinner often includes many creamed dishes.
Whipped cream tops our pies. All are made with cow's milk. I would think
this component remains in the product when cow's milk is used to make
formulas. If true, that's TWO things that induce sleep in baby - which many
moms think is just wonderful. I try to extoll the virtues of tucking baby
in with mom at night so mom can sleep better & how breastfed babies are
smarter than formula fed babies - in part because of the breast milk, but
in part because baby is awake & communicating with people more. Baby can't
learn a thing when baby is sleeping soundly.
