Until there is scientific research that proves drinking or eating food with
yeast causes a yeast over growth EVERYONE PLEASE DO NOT TELL MOTHERS THAT
THIS IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
Has anyone asked a mother how she feels after dumping her milk down the
drain? I find it interesting how often this is recommended, especially when
there is no true foundation. I am glad to hear that the majority of the
group here would encourage the mother to use her milk over formula but if you
are hinting to her that something is wrong with her milk, why would she take
this risk?
Formula is widely advertised and used and few people want to discuss the
risks to parents (outside LC's) so if the LC is hinting that something is
wrong with the breast milk the natural alternative is to give formula.
Do not formula feed babies get yeast infections? I would not tell a mother
that her breastmilk pumped during an out break of yeast is contaminated
unless someone gave me the research to prove that statement.
I'm sorry about shouting but I have heard a couple remarks lately about just
let the mother pump and dump her milk for a while, no big deal, and I think
every drop wasted is a BIG DEAL.
Stepping down from my soap box.
