I found good information on mifepristone (one of two components in RU-486)
on the web, but need help interpreting it. Here are excerpts:
*molecular weight 430
*protein binding 98%
*bioavailability 69%
*peak concentration 90 minutes
*Following a distribution phase, elimination of mifepristone is slow at
first (50% eliminated between 12 and 72 hours) and then becomes more rapid
with a terminal elimination half-life of 18 hours.
That last sentence doesn't mean much to me. My best guess is that the first
half-life takes anywhere from 12 to 72 hours, but is 18 hours for each
half-life thereafter. Can anyone interpret it for sure and get an overall
sense of how seriously we need to take this drug, assuming a baby of 7
months?
The website from which I got the information was
