I have worked with a handful of resistant cases of mastitis where we tested
all family members, including the mother and baby, for naso-pharyngeal and
throat infections. Strep and staph seem to be the most common culprit and
Dad (or mom's partner) seems to be the most likely carrier. When the silent
carrier is treated the mastitis will then respond to other treatments
designed specifically for it.
