Oh yes, babies getting milk via n/g tubes (considered NPO) can get yeast and
in a VLBW baby, thrush is very dangerous, can be fatal. There are some good
articles on thrush in premies  in past issues of Neonatal Network. Even
babies who are formula fed get it since yeast can overpower a weakened immune
system easily.  In fact, NICU's often use a urine culture to dx yeast. I'll
try to find the article I refer to most and write more later.
