From my 22 years of experience in the field I have seen mothers who don't breastfeed for a complex of reasons, and most of them are not  under the conscious control of the mother.  I don't see any of them as
selfishness.
I think we need to be very careful to not judge mothers who don't breastfeed.
Mothers even so called "selfish" mothers can be victims.
I think if we judge in our professional roles as breastfeeding consultants and advocates, it doesn't help and may even hinder what we are trying to do.
